Classroom Routines and Procedures

Classroom Attendance/ Lunch Count

There is a check in clipboard near the front door for students to show that they are at school and what lunch they are having.

Restroom and Drinking Fountain

Students have opportunities to go to the restroom independently.  Only one girl and one boy may go at a time.  They will grab a restroom pass to show that someone has gone.

Recess

Students have recess before lunch at 10:35-10:55 am.  Our playground can be found down the hallway beside the kindergarten wing.  Students can play in the playground area or the black top only.

School Lunchroom

Lunch is from 11:05-11:35 pm.  Students may go to their lockers if needed to get their lunch.  I have the kids line up cold lunch, hot lunch, and brought lunch order.  There are two student helpers to clean our eating area.

Hallways

Students must practice H.A.L.L while in the hallway.  That stands for hands behind the back, all eyes forward, lips sealed, and low speed.  There is a student helper who leads the line, ends the line, and turns off the lights.

Classroom Jobs

By the chalkboard, there is a chart with the responsibilities of each student.  Each student has a job that includes pet monitor, paper passer, librarian, etc.

Tables

The class is organized by tables in colors.  The colors are found  on the table.

Quiet Signal

To get the students’ attention or the noise level is getting too high, I say “Knock Knock,” “Ring Ring,” or “Give Me Five.”  Students follow with the sign and say “Who’s there?” or “Hello?”  Everyone’s hand should be raised with their palm facing me actively listening.

Dismissal Procedures

From 3:00-3:15 pm, I watch students as they wait for their rides home at the side of the building (kindergarten wing).  Students should go home based on the pick-up routine.  If that should change, please send a note or e-mail with the details.  Your child and I should work together to make sure they come home safely.  I ask that each child say goodbye and show me the person picking them up.  If their ride has not arrived, students are sent to the office.
